I loved them. Of course, I was 15 at the time. And I still close one eye when going from a light room to a dark and vice versa. Joined: Tue Aug 15, am Posts: Joined: Tue May 30, am Posts: Oh hells yes. I love the Horseclans series.
Bili the Axe (Horseclans, book 10) by Robert Adams
A major influence on all my games, really, but most especially the PA games, of course. My copies of all 18 books plus the two short story anthologies sit on the shelf right next to ERB's John Carter series and right above my David Gemmell shelf. I'd love to publish a Horseclans RPG; it would just be too expensive at this time That is an interesting parallel, one I'll have to explore. But for the Viridians, the Ehleen culture fits quite nicely. All the books about the Horseclans inter-connect so, although each book has an ending, there is not really a novel that can be classed as the usual stand alone.
The Coming of the Horseclans: Did Not Finish
Tribal classes and weird, suspicious relgions turn up many illustrative of a point that the author feels that he has to make - like a mask covering his own thoughts. There are two anthologies of Horseclans related short stories simply called Friends Of The Horseclans 1 and 2. I picked up 'The Coming Of The Horseclans' quite by chance but Googling has not really brought up anything much except for brief biographies of the author and a list of his works.
Nor had I come across this series. The first three books certainly have the feel of a trilogy about them and I have ordered the next three from Amazon.
